Life in the fast lane...

The NCS membership roster includes over 600 of the world's major cartoonists, working in many branches of the profession, including: comic strips; comic books; comic panels; editorial cartoons; animation; gag cartoons; greeting cards; advertising; humorous magazine and book illustration; sports cartoons; and more. Although the NCS is primarily a U.S. org. the aforementioned roster also includes a number of distinguished Canadians — and me. The Ace award was a 2004 Bronze award for illustration. The full name of ACE is The Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture, Human resources and Life and Human Sciences. The “Wisenheimer” is a place for professional as well as aspiring cartoonists to share information and comradery. (It is a restricted access board) There is a “Cartoon of the Week” contest that is purely for fun — any member can post a cartoon for consideration, and the winner is chosen by votes e-mailed to our Cartoon of the Week Czar. Cartoon entries are sometimes the starting point for lengthy discussions on technique, current events, personal experiences and off the wall ideas. On several occassions I have had the honor to be judged — by that nobel jury of my peers — guilty of being funny enough to get the gold (err blue... whatever). Anyway, I'm quite proud of it.
